Juno Awards announced today that the CARAS (Canadian Academy of Arts and Sciences) awarded for honor and merit Simple Plan for their actions in support of humanity through the actions promoted by the Simple Plan Foundation, which was established in December 2005 and aims help children, schools, institutions and other initiatives to promote a better recovery and development of children and young people with diseases such as cancer. Since its creation, the SPF has raised more than $ 750,000 over the years and in addition, the band was congratulated for the incredible presentation in September last year with the Montreal Symphony Orchestra (OSM) which raised $ 1 million that were reverted to the charities.
The band members Pierre Bouvier, David Desrosiers, Chuck Comeau, Jeff Stinco and Sebastien Lefebvre, received the Allan Waters Humanitarian Award 2012 illustrate that had ever been given to people so young, during the JUNO Dinner & Awards on March 31 in Ottawa.
The report released by a PDF file on the page of the Juno Awards says that the idea of rewarding the band started by the SPF result of the strong connection that the band created with their fans, as well as the lyrics presented in concerts and knowledge they have about the difficulties faced by young people who made the Simple Plan had a direct positive impact on their lives.
Furthermore, this same report released to the press, is mentioned some other things the band made on charitable activities such as participation of the singer Pierre Bouvier in the music that raised thousands of dollars to aid victims in Haiti with rewriting Wavin Flag by the Young Artist for Haiti, as well as Pro Hockey Life, and the collection of $ 1 per entry in Simple Plan Crew.
Below is an stretch where the drummer Chuck Comeau, President of CARAS, Melanie Berry and vice president of Bell Media, Mirko Biblic show their emotions about the award:
“Words cannot express how grateful we are to be the recipients of this award,” said Simple Plan band member Chuck Comeau. “To be recognized by CARAS and the JUNO Awards is a true honour for us. As a band we have been very fortunate to receive the constant support of our fans, which has allowed us to continue doing what we love for the last ten years. Because of that, we believe that it is extremely important for us to give back, and the Simple Plan Foundation is our way to do this. We are very proud of all of our Foundation’s initiatives — they have helped to define us as a band and have become a large part of who we are. There is no question that the Simple Plan Foundation will continue to grow and that we will be able to help our communities for many years to come.”
”We are thrilled to be recognizing Simple Plan’s charitable achievements and dedication to youth welfare with this honour,” said Melanie Berry, President & CEO of CARAS/The JUNO Awards & MusiCounts. “Their ongoing commitment to philanthropy and their Foundation is tremendous, and we salute them for all of their exceptional work.”
